IMPORTANT NOTE TO EDITORS: NC State is providing the complete list of graduation candidates this year via the World Wide Web at the following address:

http://www.ncsu.edu/news/fgrad/f00grad.htm

We hope this format will be more complete, easier for you to access and transfer accurately into your system, and more timely. Here's how to find the information: Log onto the above address, which will take you to the main menu for a by-county breakdown of graduates. Click on the counties within your coverage area, which will bring you to an alphabetical listing of all graduates, followed by their fields of study (a two-or-three letter code; see enclosed description sheet). As always, students who have more than one curriculum listed earned degrees in more than one field.
If a student's address is not listed under the appropriate county, it is because the student originally established residency in the county listed, but has changed his or her mailing address for grades. You may choose to delete those names.
If you do not have Internet access or if you experience problems with this new format, please call NC State News Services at (919)515-3470. Following is the lead-in to the graduation list.

Local Students Receive Degrees At NC State University Graduation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

North Carolina State University Chancellor Marye Anne Fox conferred degrees on about 2,300 summer and December graduates when the university held its 2000 Fall Graduation on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Dr. Theodore M. Hesburgh, president emeritus of the University of Notre Dame, delivered the graduation address. Hesburgh served for 35 years as Notre Dame's president, and has also served on more than 50 government commissions and two dozen boards of trustees, with involvement in such organizations as the National Science Foundation, the United Negro College Fund and the American Council on Education.

During the commencement ceremonies, Chancellor Fox conferred to graduates 2,415 degrees: 51 associates, 1,678 bachelor's, 483 master's, and 203 doctoral degrees. Fourteen valedictorians were recognized for having earned perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during their academic careers at NC State.

Candidates for degrees were from 91 North Carolina counties, 29 other states and 18 foreign countries. NC State holds graduation ceremonies each year in the spring and fall.
