Foot protection shall be identified as required by North Carolina Occupational Health and Safety Standards for General Industry 1910.132 Personal Protective Equipment, 1910.136 Foot Protection or Construction Industry Standard 1926.95 and 1926.96. Requirements for reimbursement of Safety Shoes for State Employees: 1. All personal protective equipment requires a written hazard assessment of the employee's job for personal protective equipment. 2. The employee purchase of a safety shoe must comply with ANSI Z41-1991 Class 75 and that safety shoes contain any additional safety protection features as required for the employee's job.
3. No more than one pair of shoes can be reimbursed at the State rate each twelve months at the current rate of $80.00 established by the Office of State Budget. 4. Them employee must provide proof that the safety shoe purchased is compliant with the ANSI Z41-1991 Class 75 Standard and contains required safety protection features required for the employee's job. 5. The employee can purchase the style of safety boot or shoe from any vendor. However, the type of foot wear required may be a requirement of the job and a condition of employment. 6. The Department would be responsible for developing a tracking plan, distribution system and reimbursement plan for employees. Direct billing by the vendor to the Department is recommended.
